Machismo is the belief that men should be big, strong, domineering, and sexist. This can lead to catcalls, domestic abuse, and even rape. As a U.S. citizen it was a bit shocking when I first got here. Personally, I think there is a strong tie between machismo and the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church pushes the macho stereotype. Disclaimer: I don't have conclusive proof that Assange is a Russian agent, or that Wikileaks has been co-opted by Russian intelligence. What evidence I do have is circumstantial. While it paints, in my opinion, a convincing portrait of Assange, it is not conclusive. But, this isn't a court of law, and I firmly believe that I can draw a conclusion based on the evidence at hand. 1 Eddie Snowden
A couple of weeks after Snowden arrived in Hong Kong, Julian Assange announced that Wikileaks would provide him with legal counsil and "...attempt to broker asylum for the 29-year-old contractor in Iceland."1
, as well as fund his stay in Hong Kong 1
. It was around this time that Snowden met his Wikileaks liaison, Sarah Harrison 1
By June 21st, "an Icelandic businessman linked to WikiLeaks said he has readied a private plane to take Edward Snowden ... to Iceland if the government grants him asylum." However, while Snowden and Wikileaks continued to petition Iceland for asylum, Snowden had already been living in the Russian consulate in Hong Kong 1
. According to reports, Snowden stayed at the consulate for several days before his "surprise" arrival in Moscow on the 23rd 1
. Snowden's decision to go to Moscow, according to unnamed sources quoted in a Russian newspaper, then quoted in the Washington Post, seems to have been influenced by his Wikileaks representative, Ms. Harrison 1
, a British citizen with a Russian visa. Incidentally, she also accompanied Snowden to Moscow.
Despite Putin's insistence that Snowden's arrival in Moscow came as a complete surprise to him, it's now clear that Snowden and/or his wikileaks handlers had reached out to the Russians at least
several days prior to his departure from Hong Kong 1
. How could the Russians not
have known? The day before Snowden's departure, Assange "...convinced Ecuador's consul in London to provide a document requesting that authorities allow Snowden to travel to Ecuador via Russia "for the purpose of political asylum. 1
" The president of Equador then declared the document invalid, and when "...Snowden arrived in Moscow the next day with useless travel papers, all signs suggest that Russia's domestic intelligence service (i.e. FSB) took control of him. 1
Moscow had Snowden. Wikileaks sold the dude out.
I'd like to also note that Snowden's attorney in Moscow is also "head of public council for the Federal Security Service (FSB). 1
" 2 Israel Shamir
I spent a whole lot of time on Snowden. My apologies. I'll try and make the rest of this quick.
Israel Shamir is an antisemite, Holocaust denier, and, according to former Wikileaks employees, a close friend and ardent defender of Julian Assange. 1 2
Here are a few of Shamir's counterpunch articles defending Assange in the most antisemitic and misogynistic ways possible. 1 2 3
Shamir was in charge of Wikileak's Moscow Cables leaked by Chelsea Manning 1
. What did Shamir do with those cables, you ask? "He travelled on to Belarus, ruled by the Soviet-style dictator Alexander Lukashenko, where he met regime officials." Then he handed those cables over to regime, which then used said cables to embark on a vicious crackdown of pro-Democracy activists.
Afterwards, Assange was like, "What? I barely even knew the guy. 1
. But, according to former Wikilinks employees, "Shamir has a years-long friendship with Assange, and was privy to the contents of tens of thousands of US diplomatic cables months before WikiLeaks made public the full cache. 1
Assange allegedly introduced Israel to his staff using a false name. And, despite Shamir's off behavior in the Wikileaks office, such as allegedly asking for cables concerning "the Jews", Wikileaks staff "were told in no uncertain terms that Assange would not condone criticism of his friend."
At best, the evidence clearly suggests Assange turned a blind-eye as his friend provided a Russian ally with information on political dissidents. At worse, Assange colluded with the Russians. 3. Wikileaks was Totally Gonna Drop a Wikibomb on Russia. Then They Didn't.
In October 2010, Assange announced to the world, ""We have [compromising materials] about Russia, about your government and businessmen... 1
, and claimed that Wikileaks was being helped by "the Americans".
Of course, Russia was like, "The hell you ain't," and started to make some pretty naked threats against Wikileaks 1
. Russian secret police made an officially unofficial statement, declaring, "It's essential to remember that given the will and the relevant orders, [WikiLeaks] can be made inaccessible forever..."
Long story short, Wikileaks never released the documents... and a year or so later, Assange has his very own talk show on Russia Today, the Kremlin's very own propaganda channel. 4. The Julian Assange Show, with Julian Assange
Aside from the fact that Assange's show airs on state-controlled media 1
in a state that really
fucking controls its media 1
, The Julian Assange Show features a who's who of Russian allies and useful idiots fielding softball questions from Assange.
But why did Assange join Russia Today? Well, according to Assange, “A lot of the things that we have been trying to report have not been carried accurately in the mainstream press. There are many, many fine exceptions, but when we look at international networks there’s really only two that are worth speaking about, and that’s RT and Al Jazeera. 1
What's he even talking about? I don't know, but his show is really nothing more than a soapbox where terrorists and brutal dictators can justify their actions because, hey, they're the real victims here m i rite?
In his interview with the President of Ecuador, Julian learns that the violent suppression of the Ecuadorian media is totally justified because it's all owned by the bankers, and bankers are bad for Ecuador 1
And in his interview with a Hezbollah leader, Julian learns that Hezbollah has been totally trying to bring the Syrian Opposition to the table and, you know, get them to stop killing everybody. We're gonna ignore the fact that Hezbollah has been fighting on Assad's side and were instrumental in turning the tide or the war. But, whatever. Because apparently it's the United States and Israel that wants civil war in Syria. Hezbollah just wants peace. As long as Assad is in power. Hey! Just like the Russians 1
Alright. I'm done. My eyes hurt. But, I'm sure you get the point here. Assange is a Russian agent yadda yadda yadda
